With the Covid-19 Pandemic in full swing - and face masks in extreme short supply - and now mandatory in some public locations - we were looking at a few different tutorials to make your own, and I've created this from a hybrid of ideas out there. It literally takes just minutes, costs practically nothing, and uses things you already have around your house.
Supplies:
1 sheet of paper (8.5" x 11")
1 Pen (or pencil, etc...)
1 Ruler
1 pair of Scissors
1 Stapler (with 6 staples)
2 Elastics (or the ties of your choice)
1 sheet of Paper Towel
Step 1:
Cut a strip of paper lengthwise, the width of a ruler.
Step 2:
Staple eleastics to the ends of the paper strip. (Or string, ribbon, laces, or whatever you are using)
Take your paper towel and fold it in half lengthwise.
Step 4:
Placing your ruler in the center of the folded paper towel, fold both sides to the middle and fold back from the middle - making a zigzag fold on both sides.
Open the paper towel and place your strip of paper inside, where the ruler was, and fold back over.
Step 6:
Pinching the folds back into the strip of paper on the ends, place a staple to secure the folds.
For a larger mask, staple 3 folds to the strip of paper , leaving one fold on one side unstapled. For smaller mask, staple all four layers on both ends.
Whola! You have a disposable face mask!
It takes minutes to make, super simple, and I plan on making up some to keep in my car - so I'll never forget to bring any.
